1. What is the Discover China Summer Event?

The Discover China Summer Event is a 9-day immersive youth exchange program designed to introduce young Americans to China’s rich culture, modern innovations, and vibrant society. The program will take place in Suzhou-Nanjing-Shanghai from June 6 to June 15, 2026.

2. Who Can Apply?

The program is open to American youth aged 16 to 19, with priority given to first-time visitors to China and applicants of non-Chinese heritage. Whether you’re a student, young professional, or cultural enthusiast, we welcome you to apply!

3. What Are the Program Highlights?

🏛️ Cultural Immersion & Landmarks

The program features several UNESCO-recognized and historically significant sites:

  • Suzhou Classics: Visits to the Humble Administrator's Garden, one of China's most famous classical gardens, and the modern Suzhou Museum.

  • Nanjing Heritage: Exploration of the Confucius Temple and the Old Town Area, providing a deep dive into traditional architecture and local history.

  • Shanghai Finale: A final look at China’s modernization and colonial history at The Bund and the City God Temple.

🎓 Educational Exchange & Corporate Insight

  • A core component of the program is the direct interaction with Chinese institutions:

  • School & University Visits: The itinerary includes multiple exchange sessions at both High Schools and Universities in Suzhou and Nanjing.

  • Local Corporate Visit: Students will get a firsthand look at China’s economic landscape through a visit to a local morden high technology corporation in Suzhou.

  • The program includes visits to significant memorial sites in Nanjing:

  • The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre.

  • Nanjing Aviation Martyrs Memorial Hall.

  • 4. What Is Included in the Program Fee?

The program fee of $1500 covers:

  • Round-trip airfare from the U.S. (SFO) to China.

  • Accommodation, meals, and local transportation.

  • Guided tours, workshops, and cultural activities.

  • Comprehensive travel insurance.

Generous subsidies from the US-SINO Culture Experience Consortium make this affordable fee possible!

5. Are There Any Additional Costs?

The program fee covers most expenses. However, you may want to budget for:

  • Personal spending money (souvenirs, snacks, etc.).

  • Any additional excursions or activities not covered by the program.

6. How Do I Apply?

Complete the Online Application Form – Fill out your personal, educational, and motivational details.

7. What Is the Application Deadline?

Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2026. Be sure to apply early as spots are limited!

8. How Will I Know If I’m Accepted?

Selected applicants will receive a notification by May 2, 2026. Keep an eye on your email for updates and instructions.

9. Is Financial Aid Available?

Yes, limited financial aid is available for qualified applicants. If you would like to be considered, please explain your circumstances in the application form.

10. What Are the Safety and Health Protocols?

Participant safety is our top priority. We provide comprehensive travel insurance and follow all local health and safety guidelines throughout the program. Participants are required to adhere to safety protocols and instructions provided by the program staff.

11. What Happens If I Have to Cancel?

Cancellations will be handled according to our cancellation policy. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to withdraw from the program.
